Acupuncture was developed in China over a millennia ago with writings dating back to 100 B.C.. Since then it has been implemented to treat a variety of conditions arising the body, most often from the musculoskeletal system, by stimulating certain area’s of the body, most often with needle penetration the skin in order to stimulate the nervous system.
At the Robichaud-Levesque clinic we implement the use of needles, as well as, laser to stimulate certain area’s of the body to help increase healing. Either by increasing blood flow thus increasing oxygen delivery to the tissue, decreasing neural tension, decreasing muscle tonicity and/or decreasing nociceptive output towards the brain.
Treatments are generally administered at or near the site of pain but something treatments may be administered to other area’s of the body in order to help reduce or limit barrier to recovery.
